First I’d like to list my gripes about Twinity, and mostly
Metaversum in general.
1. Disorganized:
Which website, blog, or social feed are we supposed to pay attention
to for updates on what is happening? WHY do we have to go on a
virtual scavenger hunt to get answers? There’s FB, the blog, Twinity
forums, another set of forums, etc, etc. While information is shared
between these resources, enough of it falls through the cracks to
get all but the most attentive person lost in the maze.
At one point there were supposed to be updates via E-mail. I have
yet to see any…
While most people I’ve met do work hard for the company, I think it
more of the right hand having no clue the left exists, and vice
versa. What one person says, another contradicts, or has no clue at
all. Or, they just flat lie about it.
Originally, there were supposed to be “meetings” with Christian, or
other members of the design team, or even Monica for members to give
input about the community, etc. etc. Where were the notices on
these? They were not regularly scheduled events (such and such day,
at such and such time) And when someone would give an answer as to
when that meeting was, NO ONE WAS THERE (At Germany’s time) ….
After three such non-existent meetings, I had had enough, and
realized that no one wanted to hear what was said.
2. Boring:
Think about it. What is there really to do in Twinity? Yay, more
dancing! We get to chat, and buy clothes, vehicles, and decorate an
apartment! Even flirting with someone is boring. Without Voice you can’t tell if
it’s a male or female TYPING at the other end… It’s like watching paint dry!
How about some challenge, people!
3. The Client:
While all software clients experience issues from time to time
(it’s almost expected of any software) Twinity seems to have fundamental
issues at its core.
Due to incompatible software (based on freeware that is used in
countless other applications), the voice chat had to be scrapped.
There have been multiple issues with avies getting kicked off the
client due to unforeseen circumstances, and the UI (User Interface)
behaves like a 12 year old designed it. (No offense to pre-teens)
When placing models, the client cannot tell the difference between
the floor, or the wall. Items that used to go on the wall as
designed, now go to your feet. It is frustrating to place virtual
pictures on a virtual wall, only to see them appear somewhere other
than where they were intended.
Another thing. The file architecture used to organize items in
Twinity is downright atrocious. You cannot select more than one item
at a time. If you create folders to organize your items, and you
“use” them from that folder, the item does not remember its origin,
and will return to the base folder. There are many more examples,
but we would be here all day reading (for those who were curious
enough to get this far).
The main thing with the new “Guest_” tags are simple. Those same people who have spent money, worked hard in promoting, and worked to keep the social atmosphere alive were reduced to a “guest” with a mere flip of a switch. I, for one was inactive for the past 4 months this has been happening. Didn’t know about it… surprise! no email. Now things that were previously purchased, I no longer have access to, I can no longer visit places with friends. If I hadn’t “owned” a certain piece of property I would not have been allowed to enter because I rated it as adult. What is wrong with this picture? What a welcome home wake up call.
4. Public Relations:
Monica, You really are a sweetheart.
I’m pissed, and only partly at you, but you can’t help it, and for that, I am truly sorry.
You are an underpaid Public Relations officer for a lousy company.
The things you cover up for that miserable place you work for, and
the crap you deal with from us… Well, you deserve better.
You deserve to be a well paid Public Relations Officer of a company
that actually gives a shit. OR a REALLY well paid PR Officer to lie
like the wind for a rich company that doesn’t give a shit.
Either way, My opinion is that you’re in the wrong place.
People have poured their energy, money, and time into helping
improve this virtual world, and they’ve (Metaversum) pissed that all
away.
The reasons listed above were THE ONLY reasons I decided to close
Twinizen.com
Why support a company bent on destroying itself?
Twinity is just a social test bed. It turns its head too many
directions, and doesn’t have a clue of which path to follow.
I know my path… it is away from here.
